China's booming economy is hungry for power and the Chinese Government has set a policy of support for renewable energy. After careful review by a large panel of experts, China has granted support for a 300 MW project in its coastal waters.

Signing Ceremony

Governor Zhang Wenyue of Liaoning Province (pop. 50.2 million) traveled to New York City to preside over the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Chinese Government in Dandong City and Tidal Electric.

Discussions were held at the Yale Club of New York, followed by lunch and the signing ceremony. Mayor Chen of Dandong (extreme left) has a Ph.d in economics, speaks 8 languages, and has visited 60 countries. Mayor Wang (second from left) of Dongang City, Mayor Wu, and Michael Ashburn worked out details of the cooperation.

Gifts were exchanged and the event was covered on Chinese TV. Mayor Chen is presenting Peter Ullman with a scroll depicting the bridge between Korea and China.
