The United Kingdom has the second highest tidal range in the world and a strong commitment to renewable source power. The total potential capacity of power from U.K. tides using the offshore tidal generation technology is roughly 8000 MW.
Swansea Bay
A 60 MW project has been proposed for Swansea Bay measuring 5 square kilometers in area and about a mile offshore. WS Atkins has conducted a Feasibility Study on the proposed project and finds that the project is technically feasible, environmentally plausible, and economically viable.
